The launch party for Hard Liquor and Paddling Pools, the latest issue of the University of Bolton’s student-led creative magazine The Bolton Review, took place during The New Writing Showcase which was held at Bolton Central Library on 3rd May. Hosted by Lene Nyland and Warren Jones, the event included readings from writers featured in the new issue.
The Review, published by Steam Hammer Press, is packed with prose, poetry, plays, photographs and illustrations with contributions from students, staff and alumni from the University as well as from college and sixth form students studying in Bolton. This year the editors received hundreds of submissions and due to its ongoing success, the format has continued with the sophisticated perfect bound style introduced in Issue 5.
Editor Lene Nyland said, “Thank you to all the people who showed their support for the review at the launch, and to all the people who helped us when editing the magazine. I feel overwhelmed and so grateful. To put it simply: wow, thank you”
Co-Editor Jordan Roberts added, “It’s been an incredible experience and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to work on this magazine.”
To get your hands on a physical copy for only £4 (plus P&P), contact Simon Holloway at the University by email —firstname.lastname@example.org. A digital edition of the magazine will follow later in the year.
